Student Spotlight: Gianna Mancino

Tell us about yourself.
Hello, my name is Gianna Mancino and I am from Beaver County, Pennsylvania. I just graduated from Duquesne and my major was Marketing and a minor in Management. In the summer of 2020, I had the opportunity to intern for Henderson Brothers as a Benefits Consultant. It was a great experience, I met a lot of people and learned more about working in an insurance company! I used ZoomInfo and Salesforce daily which led me to create a Masterfile of potential prospects for the company.

What led me to the MBA-SBP program was the popularity of Sustainability and how well-known the program is at Duquesne. I knew I wanted to further my education after my undergraduate years and expand my knowledge on Sustainability. My career goal coming out of this program is to work in a marketing or management environment -more precisely, holding a position as a manager in a large company. I am open to working in any type of industry, but I prefer to work in a bigger company. Additionally, I also hope to learn more about sustainability, the environment, and overall the cross interactions within sustainability and business

What could you give a 30-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation?
I could give a 30-minute presentation on working out and nutrition with absolutely no preparation. I enjoy working out and nutrition and make them a priority in my lifestyle every day. I became interested in high school and it has started to become part of my life six years later. It is important for people to find a (side) hobby or something you can do yourself. Exercise and food are very mental, more so than physical. You can exercise and eat all you want but it is vital to understand how the two go hand in hand in order to see results.

What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?
I am most looking forward to having a stable job, income and having a family in the next 10 years. College has really taught me a lot about myself, such as my likes, dislikes, interests and priorities. My main goal is to find a job I thoroughly enjoy and will keep my motivated every day.

Who inspires you to be better?
My dad inspires me to be better every day. He is extremely hard working and always looking for ways to be the best person he can be. He taught me to put your needs and wants first and everything else will fall into place. Also, it is important to give back to your community, friends, and family. He has taught me a lot about the workforce which has been really helpful for me!
