Tell us about yourself.
Hello! My name is Meghan Butler. I grew up outside of Lansing, Michigan. I attended Michigan State University for my undergraduate education and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. For the past five years, I have been working as a high/middle school science teacher in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was through one of the units I teach that I discovered a passion in the environment and I decided to change my career focus towards improving and minimizing damage to the environment. After some research and brainstorming, I came to the conclusion that one of the best ways to achieve this was through the business sector. My career goal after completing this program is to help businesses decrease their environmental impacts so that humans can coexist more harmoniously with the Earth.
What is one of your favorite things to do in Pittsburgh?
I am new to the area, so any sort of exploring (especially delicious restaurants!).
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?
Attempting to carry everything in one trip (groceries, laundry, priceless family heirlooms, etc.) and usually dropping at least one item.
What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?
To finally stop renting so I don’t have to move every year (I have moved 5 out of the past 6 years and it is such a pain!).
Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
Lucknow and New Delhi, India.
What is the best way to start the day?
With a fresh, steaming hot cup of black coffee and a furry friend to keep me company.
