Tell us about yourself.
My name is Alex Zuchlewski, and I am from Buffalo, New York. I did my undergraduate at Duquesne University and graduated in 2021 with a finance degree. After graduation I worked at a 3rd party logistics provider as an account executive. I decided to come back to Duquesne University and study sustainable business practices because I want to be part of making our lives more sustainable and to help save our planet. My career goal coming out of this program is to become a consultant for a firm.
What is one of your favorite things to do in Pittsburgh?
My favorite thing to do in Pittsburgh is golf. I enjoy finding new courses to play at as Pittsburgh has so many. Many of the courses have hills and ups and downs which makes for a very interesting round sometimes. I try to play 4-5 times a month.
What is the most interesting place you’ve been?
The most interesting place I have been is Rome, Italy. During my time as a Duquesne undergraduate, I was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to study abroad in Rome. I love history and that city is chock full of it. The Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Vatican City, and of course all the other incredible churches were things I toured during my time there. In one of my classes, we learned about all the different styles of the churches and how we know they were built during a certain time because of the designs.
What is the best way to start the day?
The best way to start the day is to wake up early and go for a run/walk before most people wake up. It is very peaceful to run/walk through a trail with the sun coming up and the birds chirping. After doing that, I like to have a cup of coffee, make some breakfast, and turn on the TV and watch Good Morning Football.
Where would you spend all of your time if you could?
If I could spend all my time anywhere it would have to be outdoors. I enjoy all things outdoors. Whether that be going on a hike, playing sports, or relaxing on a beach I love them all. There is nothing better than a warm sunny day and just really enjoying and appreciating it.
Who inspires you to be better?
David Goggins is someone that inspires me to be better. I recently read his book that talks about his life. His life and his ideas advocate for going out of your comfort zone and reaching your full potential by pushing yourself farther than you think you can. These ideas are not new to me but seeing how far he came and how much adversity he persevered through is very motivational and inspirational.
