Tell us about yourself.
My name is Kyle Kress and I am from Pasadena, Maryland. I came to Duquesne in 2017 and studied Business Management as well as Business Marketing. I previously worked with August Jackson, an experiential marketing agency based out of Baltimore, where I worked on advertising campaigns and headed a customer relationship management project. What led me to the MBA-SBP program was wanting to further my education and my love for Duquesne University. I believe Sustainability is hugely important in today’s world, and having the opportunity to learn more about it and further my education in this field seemed like an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. Upon completing my education I plan to find a management position and eventually start my own company one day.
What is one of your favorite things to do in Pittsburgh?
My favorite thing to do in Pittsburgh is go to Steeler and pirates games. I am not a fan of any of the sports teams here and in fact the Steelers are a huge rival to my team the Baltimore Ravens. That being said however, nothing represents this city better then the fandom that surrounds there sports teams, and seeing that in person is a sight to see.
What skill would you like to master?
One skill I would to master is a golf swing. I love playing golf and I try to play as much as possible. The pursuit of getting better and trying to lower my score is slowly becoming an obsession of mine. If I were able to master a golf swing I would be a very happy man.
What is the best way to start the day?
The best way to start a day is going to the gym and then coming back to a huge cup of coffee. I need a cup of a coffee everyday. The combination of exercise and coffee gets my mind right and allows me to take on the day.
Where would you spend all of your time if you could?
If I could spend all of my time in one place, it would be Hilton Head, South Carolina where there are great beaches and great golf locations. There is nothing like the beach and there is nothing like the golf course. Having the option of both in one place is a match made in heaven.
Who inspires you to be better?
My parents both inspire me for different reasons. I’m not just saying that because they might read this, they both drive me to be a better person. My Dad drives me to push myself and make the best of opportunities with hard work and dedication. He’s one of the hardest working people I’ve ever met. My mom inspires me with how gracious and compassionate she is as a person. My mom has given me so much and she would do more for me if she could. She inspires me to better to people and to look out for others. She is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and at the same time she doesn’t let anyone walk over her.
