Student Spotlight: Jordan Weigand

Tell us about yourself.
Hello! My name is Jordan Weigand, and I am from Buffalo, New York. I graduated from Duquesne University in May of 2021 with a double-major in Psychology and Sociology. I had planned on going back to school following graduation to obtain my master’s and doctoral degrees in Sports Psychology but found a new passion and interest for the business world after I took my first business classes at Duquesne. Following this, I began researching different MBA programs and found that the MBA-SBP program was the one that suited me the best.

What could you give a 30-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation?
If I was asked to give a 30-minute presentation without any presentation I would do it on the Buffalo Bills. Being from Buffalo, I have always loved the Bills and have always taken a major interest in all of the players, and the history of my team. Any question that comes up regarding the Bills, whether it is about old teams or the current team I would be able to answer, so I know I would have no trouble giving a presentation about them with no preparation.

Where would you spend all of your time if you could?
Ideally, I would love to spend all of my time at the golf course. I love spending my free time golfing and will golf from the time the weather moves away from winter until it begins to turn back to winter.

What are you most looking forward to in the MBA-SBP program?
Since I did do not have a business background from my undergraduate studies, I am looking forward to deepening my knowledge in the business world and the aspects that go along with it. I am also looking forward to gaining an understanding on how to integrate sustainability in all aspects of business. Additionally, I am hoping that we will be able to participate in the International Study Trip this year and am looking forward to that potential once in a lifetime experience.

What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?
In the next 10 years I am most looking forward to starting my career and making a positive impact with whatever company I am able to bring my talents to. An added bonus to this would be a Buffalo Bills Super Bowl within the next 10 years!

What is one of your favorite things to do in Pittsburgh?
One of my favorite things to do in Pittsburgh is go to Penguins games. Sidney Crosby has always been my favorite NHL player ever since I was growing up and I started playing hockey. Going to Duquesne and having PPG Paints Arena being just a short walk away from campus is such an awesome perk.
