Student Spotlight: Alexandra Kramer

Tell us about yourself.
My name is Alexandra Kramer. I received my BA in Fashion Design from Kent State University in 2016. From there I moved to Portland Oregon and pursued a career at Looptworks, a sustainable product company. After nearly 4 years I decided I was ready to continue my education with the intention of becoming a college professor. I intend on using sustainability to influence the soft goods industry to initiate changes to their supply chain in hopes that we can move to a circular economy.

What is one of your favorite things to do in Pittsburgh?
Spending time with my family is the most important thing to me, catching up on holidays and Steeler games I missed out on living away.

What skill would I like to master?
I am teaching myself Arabic. It is quite a process but I am hoping to tackle it in time, and no I am not ready for a conversation just yet!

What could you give a 30-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation?
Explaining upcycling, downcycling and talking about circular economy as it relates to supply chain.

What’s the best way to start the day?
Coffee and a crossword puzzle!

What drew you to this program?
I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge of sustainable practices so I can encourage businesses to make better choices that will help them tomorrow.
