Student Spotlight: Lauryn Fetkovich

Tell us about yourself.
My name is Lauryn Fetkovich and I am from Economy, PA which is about a half hour north of Pittsburgh. I attended Duquesne University for my undergraduate program where I earned a degree in Marketing with a double minor in Sales and Supply Chain Management. While at my time here at Duquesne, I was involved with the National Sales Team, Gamma Sigma Sigma, and Pi Sigma Epsilon.

The summer going into my Junior and Senior year, I worked as a Sales Representative Intern for Uline Shipping Supplies. Here I personally visited accounts and advised them on what products would be best for their business. After I graduated in May of 2019, I started there full time as a Level One Sales Representative. I am now moving forward and pursuing my Master’s Degree to further my future with Duquesne and in the business world.

What led me to the MBA-SBP program was the importance of sustainability in our everyday world. As we move forward in our society, it is essential that we are financially, socially, and ethically responsible in all aspects of our work and personal lives. I also hope to meet many new friends and colleagues, and come out with better knowledge of crucial business topics and myself as a whole.

What is one of your favorite things to do in Pittsburgh?
I love visiting Mount Washington on a clear, summer night. That way you can see all of the incredible lights and features of what makes our city so special. Also my dad proposed to my mom here and they’re going 26 years strong!

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?
Singing! I’ve absolutely loved to sing my whole life. I’ve done it in my church for years and it makes me feel so strong. Country music is my go to.

What skill would you like to master?
I would love to master my cooking skills. In the past year it’s something been that has really sparked my interest and I enjoy doing with my family. My favorite dish to make would probably my garlic mushroom chicken!

Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
The Bahamas! It’s a tradition for my family and I to go there every year because it is truly our favorite place on earth. Seeing the clear blue water and walking on the stunning beaches is like no other.

What is the best way to start the day?
Definitely coffee! And cuddling with my dog. It is my time to take a moment, appreciate what I’m thankful for and pray. The energy you set in the morning can lay out your success for the whole day.
