Student Spotlight: Aubree Halusic

Tell us about yourself.
Hi everyone! My name is Aubree Halusic and I am from Greensburg, Pennsylvania. I recently graduated from Duquesne University on May 8th of this year with my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration while majoring in marketing and minoring in both finance and economics. After my sophomore year of undergrad, I was a Sales and Alliances Intern at DXC Technology in Tampa, Florida. It was one of the most memorable first internship experiences I could have ever hoped for. Following my junior year, I interned for Uline Shipping Supplies as a sales representative where I learned many aspects of the sales and business world.

After my internship ended and my senior year began, I knew I wanted to continue my education and pursue an MBA program which is what led me to browsing the MBA programs at Duquesne. I put much thought and consideration into whether I should go straight into my MBA or gain work experience first and then go back to pursue the degree. While discussing different avenues with many personal family members and friends, I decided it was the right choice to continue my education directly after my senior year and I am truly looking forward to this journey. The MBA-SBP program seemed to fit my goals the most, for I am passionate about sustainability and I enjoyed learning about the closeness of the cohort along with the consulting projects and determination for success. I am driven to find a career path that I am passionate about upon graduating from the program. I am also considering law school in which I believe all aspects from this program could be applied to either chosen path.

What is one of your favorite things to do in Pittsburgh?
After living in the city for four years, I have really developed a love for Pittsburgh and created so many memorable experiences here. One of my favorite things is trying new coffee shops and walking around parts of the city like Southside, Shadyside and Market Square. Some of my favorite coffee spots are Cup-Ka-Joe and Gasoline Street Coffee. I also enjoy riding my bike or going on walks when the weather is nice. Lastly, I love any Pittsburgh sporting event, especially Steeler and Penguin games. I am really looking forward to being back in the City of Champions!

What are you most looking forward to in the MBA-SBP program?
I am looking forward to working with like-minded individuals and learning not only from the program, but from all of my fellow classmates. I am also very excited about the projects and am driven to grow both personally and professionally during my time in the MBA-SBP so that I can apply that knowledge to my future endeavors.

What is the best way to start the day?
I’m a huge morning person and love to start my days off on a good note! My days usually begin with exercising because it puts me in the best moods whether it’s biking, walking, running, lifting or taking a fun workout class in the city! I’m also a big fan of porch mornings, coffee, and breakfast when I’m at home with my family and Labrador Retrievers, Cosmo and Liza.

Who inspires you to be better?
My entire family is an inspiration to me. My mom and dad have always been my biggest mentors and cheer me on no matter what. My sister, Alina, and brothers, Jake and Eddie, have guided me as their youngest sister and I am always appreciative of their advice and inspiration.  Although we all live in different states, we are extremely close and always find ways to have the best times when we are together. I’m very lucky to have such a special bond with them!
