Student Spotlight: Grayson Dundon

Tell us about yourself.
Hello, my name is Grayson Dundon. I am proudly from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During my undergraduate studies at the Pennsylvania State University I studied education and eventually became a certified teacher. My previous work experience includes substitute teaching throughout Avonworth, Hampton, and North Allegheny school districts. My career goals include creating my own hospitality based business to serve American and international customers as well as provide self-sustaining job opportunities for American workers.

What is your favorite thing to do in Pittsburgh?
My favorite thing to do in Pittsburgh is to explore the restaurant scene and see which local restaurants are thriving the most. I love to try new foods and experience the different cultural practices that each business exudes.

What are you most looking forward to in this program?
I am most looking forward to how to better contribute to the advancement of a cleaner world environment. I want to learn how to make a cleaner America and how sustain jobs for the American public.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
The most interesting place I have ever been was Hanoi, Vietnam. In Hanoi it appears as though time moves slower and the people seem more relaxed. It is a great place to calm down and enjoy the scenery.

If you could master one skill, what would it be?
I would love to master the skill of singing. Considering the fact that my voice is subpar, I would love to develop my singing voice to better make beautiful and melodic music for others to enjoy.

Who inspires you?
The former Chinese politician Hu Yaobang inspires me to be better. He inspires me to be better due to his bravery to face the authoritarian dictatorship of the Peoples Republic of China. His will to oppose intense scrutiny and deep set cultural norms has always sparked a sense of resistance in me during my endeavors as a student and American intellectual.
